2. Personal data we process and how we collect it

5. Use of our website, cookies, web analytics tools, social media, and social media plug-ins

Our website’s server automatically collects and stores, for a limited time, log data and device information when you access and use our website. This information includes, but is not limited to, details about your use of our website, your IP address, the dates and times you access our website, the web pages you visited before arriving at our website, the web pages you viewed while browsing our website, the browser you used, information about your hardware and software, information about your device and similar information. In order to properly display this site to you, these third parties may receive personal information about you, including: browser, network or device information; information about this site and the page you are viewing; and your IP address. To achieve the above objectives and safeguard our legitimate interests, we use cookies on our website. These are text files that are temporarily downloaded to your device when you visit our website. They are used to ensure the necessary functionality of our website, to enable easier and more efficient use by you, to enable us to analyse the use of our website by providing statistical information on how users interact with the website (see next paragraph) or for marketing purposes. For this purpose, cookies, set by the service provider, are used. These cookies collect information about the number of visitors to the website, the pages visited and the time spent on the website. The information generated by cookies about your use of the website can be transmitted to and stored on a server in any country in the world. However, this is generally done with the anonymisation of the IP address activated. If you have registered with the service provider, the latter will also know your identity. We may receive ratings from these social media sites that contain only aggregated or otherwise sufficiently anonymised data. We use this information to further develop our content and services offered on the respective social media page so that they may be of greater interest to users. The collection and processing of personal data in connection with social media analytics services is primarily the responsibility of these social media companies as the companies providing the analytics services. We may use plug-ins for social media or portals such as YouTube, which can be recognised by the logo placed on selected content on our website. Social media plug-ins facilitate the recommendation and sharing of selected content from our website on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Xing, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. If you interact with such social media platforms or portals such as YouTube, the relevant information will be forwarded and your visit will be recognised by these platforms.

6. With whom we share your personal data

We may share your personal data with trusted third parties: – suppliers to whom we outsource certain support services such as translation and document review; – IT service providers; – third parties involved in providing services to customers, with their prior consent, e.g. technology service providers such as data room services; – our auditors; – third parties involved in organising events. For the purposes set out in this privacy policy and where necessary, we may also share personal data with courts, regulators, government agencies and law enforcement agencies. We may also be required to disclose your personal data to comply with legal or regulatory requirements.

7. Transfer of personal data abroad

We may transfer your personal data to recipients abroad, including to countries that do not offer the same level of protection as the Swiss legal framework. We will usually do so on the basis that such a transfer is in line with the purposes of the data processing set out in paragraph 3 (above) and to the extent that such a transfer is permitted and we consider it appropriate (e.g. if it is necessary for the provision of a service or in the interest of the data subject). We also retain your personal data for as long as it is subject to a legal obligation to retain it.

You have the right to access your personal data and to request detailed information about the personal data we hold about you and how we process it, as well as to receive a copy of your personal data. You can also have your data corrected or deleted, restrict our processing of that information and object to the processing of your personal data. Please note that even after revoking your consent, we may continue to process your personal data to the extent required or permitted by law, for example if we are obliged to retain or process certain data, if we have an overriding legitimate interest or if we need the data to enforce our rights. If you believe that the processing of your personal data violates data protection laws, you may notify us, assert your rights in court or file a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, in Switzerland with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
